For over 15 years I've been creating engaging digital products and services for startups, international software companies and recognised high street brands using my skills in UX & UI design and development.
I create various design artifacts for your project, from process and user flows to wireframes and prototypes, high fidelity mockups to coded templates.
I bring insight into your users and how to create experiences that captivate them whilst achieving your product goals.
I get the most out of working on new digital projects that are in their early stages, where my experience and broad skill set can add their greatest value.
I regularly work remotely with project teams or can work on site in Central Scotland (Edinburgh and Glasgow) and London (for the right project).
Let's work together on your making your next product a success.

Some of the past clients and brands I have worked for include
Take a look at some of my recent projects where I've employed my skills in UX & UI Design for some amazing clients.
Food smart is an excellent way to get kids to see what is in their food. They love it and so do I!
As a health promotion professional who struggles with eating patterns, I'm delighted to have found this app. I love the way when you select a recipe to try, you can add the ingredients to your shopping list at the touch of a button.
I've worked on projects for large scale and feature-rich products for multination banks, software companies and startups alike, what interests me is the problems digital products can solve for users and communties.
My ability to quickly assimilate product domain knowledge combined with my drive to create optimised, functional, yet engaging experiences has naturally lead me in to software solutions and services.
Recent banking sector projects I've worked on for Lloyds Banking Group and HSBC have both involved solving problems for users, bringing true advice and financial recommendations fully online, without additional offline steps.
Both experiences needed to consider the users level of experience through detailed, multi-faceted, question sets to provide FCA approved advice.
Retaining the customers trust and engagement in these products while also converting them to a product meant investing considerable time in early stages of research to build knowledge and gain insight.
Oracle Maxymiser was another past project where these skills became pivotal, where I lead the start of a complete UX overhaul of the multi-variate testing platform. Working closely with the product owner, and creating a new UX team, I brought consistent UI and UX design patterns based upon Google Material Design into play alongside multiple new and redesigned product features.
I enjoy working with startups on fresh new ideas that need a little helping hand to see the path to a viable digital product and where I get to exercise some of my other development skills.
I also work on my own side projects like Gardnr (see below), where I see opportunities for new products that can help users and communities grow and help bring positive change through learning new skills.
Creating and refining domain models, wireframes, detailed Axure and InVision prototypes and UI Designs on a fully online investment advice product that aims educated and engaged users with no previous experience about investment.
Also worked heavily with BA's, product owners, stakeholders and financial advisors to create a decision that was pivitoal to understastanding the offline process and converting it into an online process.
A greenfield project to create a prototype for a retirement advice online tool that would enable its users to fully see a tax-optimised route to decumulation.
This involved grasping detailed and complex financial rules and processes and combining them into an online process that would educate and engage the audience.
I created user flows, wireframes, Axure and InVision prototypes ready for user testing.
Creating digital products that solve problems relies upon building knowledge and understanding using a progressive, yet agile, process where validation and refinement are at its core.
I use a process of iteratively validating and refining solutions through minimum viable design artifacts, sketching, wireframing and prototyping, building up the fidelity of resources that can be tested with an audience and stakeholders to validate my hypotheses.
Testing these viable artefacts as early and regularly as possible aids a projects ability to fail fast, learn, understand and refine. This provides greater ability to arrive at a well-considered solution before a project moves into higher resource and cost stages.
This also optimises the products minimum viable features whilst shining a light on areas where design can add value through considered user intrefaces with user feeback elements and interfacts that bring delightful and visual aesthetics to the user experience, increasing user engagement and product evangelism.
Let me know about your project's or contract's to see how we could work together to create great digital product experiences.
